Facilities The Home has several reception rooms including a well-stocked library which enjoys wonderful views of the garden and forms the centre of daily activities. The dining room and lounge are situated on the ground floor. All upper levels of the home are accessible by lift. All the bedrooms are private, many of which are en suite & all have washing facilities. Every room is equipped with profiling beds, a nurse call system, comfortable armchairs and a private telephone line. Tastefully furnished and decorated, the rooms may be adapted to suit the wishes of each individual.

MEDICAL/ SPECIALIST CARE - GP cover is provided by the Wallace House Surgery. Doctors do rounds each week with additional visits as required. If you live locally you will be able to remain under your own GP if you choose, however if you are no longer in their catchment area you will need to register with a local GP. Emergency cover is available twenty-four hours a day and where hospital admission is necessary the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City is approximately 6 miles away.
Liaison with Macmillan Nurses at the Isobel Hospice allows for the provision of the highest standard of care for those residents requiring terminal or palliative beds. MEDICATION - All medication will be supervised and administered by the Registered Nursing staff at the home. However if you would prefer to continue self administering your own medication then this can be discussed with senior nursing staff. DENTIST - The mobile dental surgery in Cuffley, provides in-house treatment for all dental needs OPTICIAN - Visiting Opticians provide an annual eye test for all residents and can provide spectacles if prescriptions change CHIROPODIST - A visiting chiropodist attends the centre every six weeks PHYSIOTHERAPIST - A physiotherapist is available when required, and our care staff are able to provide daily exercise routines as a part of the programme designed for each patient HAIRDRESSER - A local hairdresser visits Broad Oak Manor regularly and other beauty therapies are available if required on a private basis NEWSPAPERS - News papers can be ordered if required by contacting reception LAUNDRY - All linen and towels are provided by the home. Please request additional blankets or pillows if required. You may choose to bring your own linen however this must be clearly named. All personal laundry will be collected to be washed, dried and ironed by the home. Any hand washing is the responsibility of the resident or family. TELEPHONE - All rooms have a telephone in place and you will have your own personal telephone number for direct dialling or calls can be transferred to your room. All call charges are set at a British Telecom Rates and charges will be billed according to calls made. SPECIAL AIDS Items such as zimmer frames, raised toilet seats and wheel chairs can be accessed through the home. Should you require any specialist equipment staff can assist and give advice if requested. MAINTENANCE - Should you require any maintenance within your room such as: hanging pictures, moving furniture or making any adjustments to your room to make you more comfortable we will happily provide this service A routine maintenance programme is in place for the home. MEALS - Broad oak Manor is proud of its fully equipped professional kitchen with resident chef. Catering for all types of diet eg: high protein, lactose intolerance, diabetics, low salt, soft or pureed. Residents are consulted regularly with regards to dietary preferences and may choose from an extensive menu of high quality food. PERSONAL POSESSIONS - Residents are encouraged to bring personal possessions. Any large items must be first agreed by the Matron for health and safety reasons. Residents are advised against bringing any items of significant value. The proprietors cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage to personal items VISITING - There are no restrictions on visiting times however we do request that visitors take into account the wellbeing of the patient when they visit. |
